CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT - CODE OF CONDUCT

South Africa's new Consumer Protection Act aims to provide the consumer with certain rights and protection. Van Schaik Bookstore acknowledges and supports the Act.

Our aim is as follows:

To comply with the principles of the Act in all our dealings with our customers, whether it be marketing, the sale of goods and after sales service. We strive for fair business practices.We respect you and your consumer rights.

We support your consumer rights as follows:

  1. THE RIGHT TO RECEIVE GOODS OF GOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY

    We offer consumers goods of good quality for the purposes for which they are generally intended. The consumer has a right to return goods with the invoice, within ten (10) business days. The book or product must be in its original, mint condition without its appearance having been altered in any way. Certain goods carry a manufacturer warranty. If goods fail to satisfy, the manufacturer warranty will apply whereby consumer may return the goods (anytime within 6 months) to be refunded or exchanged.We will not sell you goods that are hazardous to health or may cause you harm. Product information and usage instructions will generally be found on the product packaging.

  2. THE RIGHT TO DISCLOSURE AND INFORMATION

    To make an informed decision on the goods you would like purchase, we will provide adequate information.We may not always address you in your home language, but will make the effort to explain all details to you in simple and plain language. No intentionally misleading material will be advertised.

  3. THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE

    A range of good quality goods at competitive prices will be offered and we will not pressurize you to purchase any products you do not want. Sometimes it may be beneficial to purchase a combination of goods at a favorable price.

  4. THE RIGHT OF REDRESS

    Contact us first, to resolve any disputes with us as a result of your transaction.
