Since Van Schaik Bookstore changed its logo in 2009 we started with the revamping and upgrading of our shops. With 60 shops countrywide it is a huge undertaking and has its challenges, but the end result is an overall better shopping experience for customers.

On 26 August Van Schaik Bookstore won the Sefika Academic Bookseller of the Year Award for the third consecutive year. This is also the first time for a bookseller to be presented with this award three consecutive times since the inception of the awards 14 years ago. The announcement was made during the awards dinner of the annual South African Booksellers Association conference held at Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel and Convention Centre in Durban.

Most of the bestselling printed textbooks are now also available in e-textbook format from Van Schaik Bookstore, in-store or on-line. With more than 4 500 titles available from Van Schaik, it covers 131 fields of study from accounting to linguistics. Most of the biggest publishers have already come on board, including Van Schaik Publishers, Juta Publishers, Lippincott, Pearson, Oxford University Press, Elsevier Medical, LexisNexis, MacMillan, Cengage and John Wiley. Some of the popular titles like: "About Financial Accounting", "Seasons come to pass", "Economics for SA Students", "Rethinking our world" and "SA Law of Persons" are among the best sellers.

World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated on 23 April every year and we celebrated this during the month of April by hosting events for learners from disadvantaged communities at some of our branches or at their schools around the country. We took hands with our suppliers and publishers to make this special for the learners by doing something special with and for them.
